Marriage certificate required to go to school in the Philippines?
Colleges/Universities in the Philippines require prospective students (mostly women) to submit their marriage certificate (if married) as part of their admission requirements. Why is the rationale? What is the value added?

A few colleges in the US do the same. Quite apart from any other reasons they might have, there's the calculation for any tuition reductions or benefits assigning. If you're married, than your income is different than if you're single. And to prove that you are married, you need to supply the college with your marriage certificate.
