What happens if I get a student loan here in the States and then decide to transfer overseas ?
I want to study at the Western Visayas State University in Iloilo, Philippines, but no bank wants to give me a student loan to do that. What would happen if I enrolled at a university or college here in the States and then transferred over to the Philippines? Would I have to start paying off the student loan immediately or would I be allowed to wait until I finished my schooling in the Philippines first?

If you did a semester in the US and paid for that with student loans, then you wouldn't be required to start repaying until you were done with school no matter where you go. But, that student loan you take out would not transfer oversees with you unless you were studying abroad through a US university. Your student loan is paid to the school and any extra is distributed to you. If you withdraw from all of your classes to go oversees you would have to give that money back so I don't understand how going to a US university would help you.
