What percentage of college students in the Philippines study nursing?
I asked this question out of curiosity because it seems that half of my high school class all took up nursing. So, does anybody here have any data to help me on this? I've tried googling but the results I'm getting are all about PRC's board exam results. I wouldn't have asked here if I were looking for the percentage of board passers because that's very easy to find. F*CK OFF pinoykurakot

You will probably have a much better change if you look for the board passers rather than nursing school takers.

That's not new. You already said that half of your school class are taking up nursing. You really don't need to search for the answer and find your hypothesis true in the end since it is very obvious that many Filipinos would like to take up nursing and hoping that one day they would go abroad and establish a life that they think they would never get here by working as a local nurse. But the downside of it is the govt has been pushing this nursing program for years thus making the job market limited since there are so many nursing graduates. Some nursing graduates who even passed the board exam are desperate to find a job and because of this they end up working as call center agents or as assistants in a small clinic.

cannot find actual % but your observations is correct. i found this 3-yr old news article. it seems DepEd officials are really worried too many students taking nursing (hopeful they can work abroad) that a new pre-college testing will be implemented. http://www.sunstar.com.ph/static/gen/2006/11/18/news/education.dep.t.to.control.rising.number.of.nursing.students.html
