Atheists, I know you are good, is it part of your moral code to help starving students in the Philippines?
Atheists, can you help? I'm inquiring which religious or non-religious groups would be most moved with the predicament of a starving student in Cebu. If course, it's also important for agnostics to know which intellectual traditions yield most practical compassion.

We should all help each other out -- regardless of religious belief (or lack thereof).
2 :
Starving kids always upset me, its a good job we have secular charities like the red cross that can properly make a difference through everyones donations.
3 :
They only help themselves. Like helping the Red Cross feeds starving children. It only feeds a multi billion dollar entity with top executives making 6 and 7 figure salaries.
4 :
Dude, this is NOT the place to solicit "charity".
5 :
Is this a scam?

Part of my moral code? As in, I HAVE to do this to stay moral? No. But would I do it, should the opportunity arrive? Of course. That would come with the stipulation that I would actually be giving them a food SOURCE as opposed to canned food or something, though, as that doesn't help very much. -shrug- And as I do not have the funds to go the Philippines myself, I'd have to find someone else to get it there, which is usually the most limiting factor to all people - not whether or not it's in your moral code.
7 :
thats called volenteer work, not religion. just because they dont believe in god doesnt mean they dont want to do good in the world.
8 :
Whether a persons charitable or not, has nothing to do with religious affiliation. (imo)
9 :
Nope, I don't see why I should help the starving kids in other countries. Not my fault their too dumb to learn how to farm.
10 :
you consider the locals firstly .perhaps the philippine government .

If I had the means to do so, and a legitimate charity to help through, I would do so. Unfortunately I don't at the moment.

Your god of choice, or lack there of, has nothing to do with helping your fellow human beings... If you ONLY help others because you expect a cosmic reward then you are a pathetic human that doesn't deserve any form of recognition for what you do. Helping your species is it's own reward and should be the only reward required. If I were not on the verge of bankruptcy because of the economy, lay offs, etc. then I would love to help... But right now I'm trying to help myself keep a roof over my head...

As long as you have completed your education abroad and you have your report cards and certificates for example, then universities in the should Philippines have no problem accepting you. Some good schools in the Philippines are: Ateneo de Manila University www.admu.edu.ph University of the Philippines www.upd.edu.ph De La Salle University www.dlsu.edu.ph University of Santo Tomas www.ust.edu.ph These are the 4 highest placing universities in the Philippines according to the Times Higher Education Survey.

Yes there is! I know DOST grants loans to deserving students who don't have enough money to pay the tuition but if a student doesn't take care of his grades they will automatically take this privilege away and pay his own tuition 100% with his own money.
2 :
There are, but you're required to pay up at least 300% back upon completion of your degree, as well as give up an arm and 3 legs. (yes...3, coz you'll wish you had a third one to give up after you see the bill)
