Is there anyone here who tried studying abroad as exchange student?
I'm a Sophomore student at University of the Philippines Los Banos and I'm really interested in studying abroad but disappointed on the fees. Its quite expensive pala. Is there anyone here who can give me good advice about financial aid or maybe you can share what its like studying overseas?

in US if your an international student your not qualified to get financial aid and you need a co sponsor for you to be enrolled. The tuition is 3-4 times the usual amt. Example in hudson community college in New Jersey (affordable college run by the government) the tuition is $279.00 per unit for international student. You cant enrolled in a private school bec they dont allow you. I studied overseas but its not worth it w all the money you have to put up unless you have all the $$. Lucky for me i met my husband at school and we got married while i was at school and bec of that my tuition was more affordable and i was able to get loans. I wasnt qualified for financial aid bec we didnt meet the income requirements which was less than how much he made. Also studying overseas is way boring than in the Philippines. The students here are not friendly and the teachers dont really care.

The previous answer is correct. Generally, foreigners are not eligile for student aid. Foreigners may be able to apply for private grants (but that would depend on each foundation's guidelines). Otherwise, you must have the funds not only for the tuition but for your living expenses as well. The embassy will be looking for this before they issue you a study visa. good luck

I study at Stanford California, but I work nights as a care giver to pay for my studies, it is real hard though.
