For nursing student in the Philippines?
do you have any classmate as old as 34 years old taking up nursing ? do you think this age is too late to start nursing in the Philippines? how about the job opportunities after that? let's say the student graduates when he's 38 years old and no experience, does he still have a chance to get a job there nowadays.. or is there a big age discrimination already?

Here in the US. we've old registered nurses . I don't know if you've such that job discrimination due to age.. They receive competitive salary & excellent benefit package...Have you ever wondered if a career in nursing is right for you?, if yes, Go for it and you can do it no matter how old you are. No one is too old to learn.....Good luck to you girl....
2 :
nursing graduates are a surplus here in the philippines so is it realistic in objective to study nursing in an old age?.. NO my dear. what do you expect its the P country producing mass laborers in thirst for high paying wage/salaries. unlike in china, there maybe an over production of laborers but still they amount cheaply... why? they dont spend time to stop and think on the poor lifestyle and look theyre economics is up and rising. You get the dots sorry for connecting it in economic stance. :D

My wife's aunt was a physician for almost 15 years. She went back to school and got her BSN in her early 40's. She's been in the USA at Duke Medical Center, North Carolina, for the last 15 years working as an RN. She's a US citizen now.
4 :
in the USA you will be raped by all the African coworkers so go to europe to stay safe
5 :
guys, quit taking nursing course, its not gonna be forever, in fact, the demand for nurses here are gradually getting low.. theyre hiring locals who finished atleast 2yr course. and to answer your question, yes. age doesnt matter, and no discrimination going on. so dont worry.
6 :
there is still one big chance or opportunities for a 38 years old. finish your course as magnacomlaude. or be topnotcher on your board exams. or else you will have a lower rate of chance to apply your knowledge to work.
7 :
yes. 2 of em. :) its never too late to get an education. i have co-workers who are in their 40s and are orienting as a nurse. i know of a filipina RN (who used to be in business before taking up nursing) who came to the US and worked as a nurse, she had 3 kids and a granddaughter. she was in her 40s too.

call centers in the philippines offer one of the most attractive salary packages. as far as i know, the hiring process is very competitive and preference is given to college graduates and other professionals who have had work experience. sorry to disappoint you. http://www.articlesbase.com/outsourcing-articles/call-center-101-how-to-get-hired-immediately-363702.html
2 :
i don't think that you can work when your a 16 yr old freshman, because, when you enter a call center, you need all the resumes and paper work that you'll work on when you finish studying college.. my oldest sister also wanted to enter as a call center agent when she was a 3rd yr collage student, and she wasn't qualified... i don't know. but that was an opinion based on my experience.
3 :
we have our laws that govern working policies. call centers are also respectful to our laws. under-age is not allowed.

You could easily earn 300 by christmas, if not more, by signing up for and participating in survey/offer sites. I make 600 a week doing this. There's a link in my profile to my favorite survey/offer sites. Good luck!
2 :
Yes you could earn that money from internet. Now internet has become a big market place. You could use your skills to earn. All guidance will be given by the company. Easily you could earn 12000 pesos in two months. To access and start earning visit http://pinchurl.com/onlinework
3 :
you dont NEED a PSP.. you WANT a PSP... Until you can sort out the difference between what you NEED and what you WANT. I can only guess that you are not an adult, and earning that much money that quickly, short of doing something illegal... is going to be nearly impossible....

Hi Pocoyo. There are a number of good, no-scam programs around for the home-business person. That's if this what you wish to do. Some have an extremely high return for a little work and low cost to stay with it. The one I'm involved in is GDI, and they actually give their phone number and office address on the site. So, this is one that's not a scam. Go to my site and click on the banner http://www.easyearner.ws It may of interest to you. Cheers, Peter

at least once in one year. you have to return to the states before the year you arrived.
2 :
Absolutely not! Your American citizenship can never be taken away if that is what you are worried about. Many of us live for years and years in other countries. If a person is a green card holder...a U.S. legal permanent resident...who travels outside the country, it is different. These folks must return within one year or get a re-entry permit, or they are in danger of losing their green card.
3 :
you are already citizen so you can come and go as you please. with student visa you can stay in philippines as long as you have proof of enrollment.
4 :
A regular US Citizen has to leave the country every 16 months (leave only not necessarily return to the US) for 1 day . A student visa might be different however.

What is the best way for an American to sponsor a nursing student in the Philippines? Set up a scholarship?
What is the best way for an American to sponsor a nursing student in the Philippines? Set up a scholarship?
I know many people that have sent money from other countries (US, Germany, England) to the Philippines to send their relatives to school (typically nursing school). I'd like to know if there is any sure way to to send funds the right places. Is there some kind of service that does this? Should I sent up a scholarship fund? Unfortunately money sent to PI often goes into a blackhole.

I don't think you can set up a scholarship fund, it's just not safe out there to do that. The schools can get greedy. what you can do prolly is ask the person in the Philippines to open a bank account preferrably HSBC, Banco de Oro or BPI, then make a wire transfer from your bank here (Bank of America maybe). Of course there would be a fee for that. I have sent money to my relatives out there that way. I have Bank of America and they have Banco de Oro. For more info go to bacodeoro.com.ph

College Student from the Philippines going to invest in stocks... How do I start?
Hi. I'm a junior student in the Ateneo de Manila University and has been thinking of investing in stocks. I can come up with the capital but I don't know how much. Then there's the matter of getting a good broker and the investing act itself. I don't know how or where to begin. Please help.

You will need some good books on investing. For buying individual stocks, check out - The Morningstar book "The 5 Rules for Successful Stock Investing", by Pat Dorsey, - "All About Stocks", by Esme Faerber For Mutual Funds, check out: - Mutual Funds for Dummies, by Eric Tyson - http://www.invest-for-retirement.com for a free downloadable book - The Boglehead's Guide to Investing The first step in investing is to define your goal. What do you want to invest for? The second step is then to define your time horizon based on this goal. How long until you need the money? Doing these two simple steps will help determine what to invest in and how much risk to take. Don't just put your money in an arbitrary investment just so you can say that you invest. Make your money work towards some goal. If your time horizon is short, you will need to remain conservative and stick with money market accounts or bond mutual funds. If your time horizon is longer (7 years or longer, for example) you can then use a mixture of stock and bond mutual funds. For good, low-cost mutual funds, I suggest www.vanguard.com or www.fidelity.com
2 :
There are plenty of on-line investment brokers. I use TD Ameritrade, but I've heard that eTrade is good, Scottrade, and I also use Fidelity.com because they have an awesome website. Try The Motley Fool's website and discussion board; it's a great place for any level of investment expertise. Figure on paying around $10 per trade (TD Ameritrade charges this). Since you are investing cash (as opposed to a 401K, which doesn't get taxes on short-term gains) you will probably do better with long term investment, though I have had great success using mechanical formulas (you can find out about them at http://www.mechanicalinvestor.net/ and http://www.backtest.org/) If you are going to be trading short term (holding less than a year) commissions will eat up most of your profits unless you invest at least $2000 in each trade. It's better to "pretend" invest for a while, until have proved that you can make money at it. Create portfolios for yourself using different schemes and see which one does the best for you. Keep at it. Learn all you can. By the time you get out of college and start earning enough money to seriously invest, you'll be ready.

Do I have to ask my current school in America to sign things or something? Thanks!

What is there for a college student to do in the philippines?
I'm going to a family reunion in the Philippines, Tacloban and Manila to be exact. I'll be there for three weeks, My cousin says she has a few things planned but i just wanna b sure not to miss out on anything.. i havent been there since i was 5 and im not sure when i'll be back. I'm a college student so obviously if there are any nightlife activities to check out that would be great too :)

Manila definitely has a lot of nightspots. Checkout West Ave in Quezon City, Pasig by Tektite, Makati ave in Makati, Roxas Boulevard in Pasay, and Mabini in Ermita (longtime red light district). If you're from the US or another country with higher standard of living, you'd appreciate the concerts of extremely talented and world-class pinoy music artists for a very reasonable price.
2 :
youre not KUWAGO that you want night life, you have that kind of life in the US, why dont you explore the beauty of nature in your place and explore at daytime!!! LOL.
3 :
Both nightlife and beaches are good options in the Philippines. You'll find the comedy bars to be unique venues, but be prepared for the greenest and most obscene brands of humor (my favorites!). Also, nothing beats, nightlife at the beach! If you are going to Tacloban, why not drag your family to Boracay which is not too far away.
4 :
In Manila, you can party at Encore and Ascend, and right beside Ascend is Serendra which has a lot of stateside shops, restaraunts and bars to chill at. They have the same set up at Greenbelt. Eastwood is bomb place to be also. It's in Q.C though, but it isn't that far from Manila. They have a lot of amazing restaraunts great for dinner with family and friends. They also have a few clubs there too but the club to be at over there in Eastwood is Manor. There are other clubs too, i guess you can ask your cousins about those. Going on trips like to Puerto Galera is worth it; beaches that don't cost much, unlike going to Boracay, but it is a great place to be at. Keep in mind that it is rainy season though.

Where to get a student visa to the Philippines ?
I want to get a student visa to the Philippines but I don't know where to go. Another thing is can I rent an apartment while I'm there the school I want to go to has no dorms.

you'll get a student visa at the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation in Intramuros, Manila. as for apartments, depending on the location of your school... you'll find a lot of condominiums and units for rent around Metro Manila.
2 :
where exactly in the Philippines are you gonna stay anyway? well, if there's no dorm inside the school you want, then just find a place to rent (or buy) somewhere near it. i'm sure there are loads of house rentals like that. good luck on you dude. and welcome to the Pilippines. =)
3 :
The student visa is issued in the Philippine embassies/consulates abroad and not in the Philippines. So go search online for a Philippine embassy where you live right now and that's where you apply for a student visa. Before you apply for a student visa, apply to the school first. When you get an acceptance letter, you use this to apply for a student visa. The student visa is initially valid for one year, renewable every succeeding semester. Apartments are available everywhere. You can probably find one near the school you want to attend, depending where the school is (you didn't mention it).

i'm not too sure, but i think you only need to show your past grades every semester to the dean. then you would be a scholar.. but there are ofcourse grade limits depending on the school.

9th Grade US transfer student to Philippines?
9th Grade US transfer student to Philippines?
I'm a 9th grade HS student who wants to go to Philippines to study there. But I'm afraid that the level of difference of studying there would be too high for me. If I transferred, I would become a Senior in high school in the Philippines. Would this be too hard of a leap of transferring?

High school is the worst time to transfer. If you can, finish high school, and then consider where you want to go to college.

Iam a Pharmacy student in the Philippines, what are my chances of getting hired as a pharmacist in the canada?
Iam currently 4th year pharmacy student in University of Santo Tomas Manila in Philippines. Iam currently under a 4 year curriculum. i would also appreciate helpful tips regarding on how to prepare and where should i concentrate most of my efforts, I would also appreciate information if my grades here in College are among the parameters that will affect my eligibility to take the Canadian Qualifying examinations, Thankyou to anyone who will answer. I have quite poor(failed) grades during my first year in my transcript of records. how am i going to deal with it?

Having good grades is an advantage but know the intricacies of being employed in Canada. Know the immigration processes, employment opportunities and will to achieve what you want. Contact any of those who made it to Canada being a pharmacist.
2 :
Canada is currently struggling with the immigration issue and racial discrimination. Most skilled immigrants that come to Canada are unable to find jobs in their chosen field and those of colour are granted less worthy employment opportunities. This is likely due to institutionalized racial discrimination that has been allowed to grow unabated with a lack of fair employment legislation to protect visible minorities and to encourage diversity in the workplace. Bottom-line, it's going to take more than just good grades.

Hi Neelesh Each school is somewhat different. This process would go through the school[s] where you are applying and the department or office in charge of engineering study admissions will be the best guide for you. Review the websites - it is becoming more common for all pertinent questions to be asked and answered there. Look at the web pages for UP - [Los Banos and Diliman,] Mapua, De LaSalle, Siliman, and PIT and see which seems to meet your needs. Good luck to you as you enter this most useful of professions.
