Which is easier to get in for an international student: NYU or UCLA ?
I am a current student here in the Philippines planning to transfer to either NYU's Tisch or UCLA (for a Film and TV degree). Grades and extra curricular are both excellent. I like UCLA's amazingly beautiful campus and the almost-perfect California weather, but I think UCLA prioritizes current UCLA students for their Film and TV degree. Any insights?

In my opinion UCLA would be your best bet. They are very diverse and offer a fantastic educational program. Plus, as you said, the campus is beautiful, CA has awesome weather, and UCLA offers a rich campus life. Just my .02

You may want to try affiliate marketing. check out sites like clickbank.com. You may also want to try creating your own website and using google adsense to make money. After you start your website, do a search on google adsense or Yahoo sponsored Search. Create an account and upload the html for their ads to be postd on your site. It is actually much easier to do than it sounds. You may also want to try a home based business that uses the Internet to sponsor new members. This is kind of like affiliate marketing, but with more potential. check out the site below for a free tour.

Students on foreign student visas are generally forbidden to work. A student visa is solely for the purpose of full-time studies. You will need to prove you have sufficient funds for all of your education expenses, plus all of your living expenses, plus your transportation home upon completion or termination of studies, in order to get your student visa.

Visit http://educationusa.state.gov/ and try to find programs for students from the Philippines. I am from El Salvador, and I am in the UGRAD program. But as for the Philippines, I don't really know, but you should take a glance at the website that I am just sending you, and hopefully they have good programs for people from your country. Another thing that you could do is trying to find information at the American Embassy of the United States in the Philippines. You should have one of course, since the United States and the Philippines have good relations I think. Jaime Montoya webmaster@jaimemontoya.com http://www.jaimemontoya.com

Can anybody help me? I need a credit card account as a college student and I don't know which bank offers the said account. I'm only 16 and turning 17 this coming June and I have a good financial background. My monthly allowance is 10thou and do you know any bank that will offer me a card. I hope you could help me. I would imagine any Bank would be happy to supply a card to anyone who can prove regular income...why not go into one and ask.
2 :
You will have to talk to your parents. Ask them if they can make you an authorized user on one of their credit cards. You will get a card in the mail in about a week. In the US, you cannot get a credit card under your name alone until you are 18. The same rules probably apply in the phillipines. ---------------- How about getting a checking account first? You will also need your parents to open this with you. You will get a debit/atm card with your name on it which you can use anywhere...

technically yes, because the permit would later on be needed when you apply for a pro/non-pro license, and driving schools require their students to get it, not to mention the fact that u could be fined/ plate-confiscated/ vehicle-impounded shall you be apprehended driving without the corresponding permits and/or not yielding with the regulations that comes with it. (i learned to drive when i was 14, WITHOUT a student permit)

yes its a way to earn money in govtr.

Yes. One must secure a student permit before one is allowed to drive (learn driving).

do you think the american education is fair to foreign students from the philippines?

do you think the american education is fair to foreign students from the philippines?
The American education is unfair to international students because of the variable of the education system, international students, particularly Filipino high school students need to go back two years of grades. For instance, a senior will be admitted as a sophomore student instead of retaining his/her school level. They are insulting foreign students by not giving them the chance to prove their intellect, or take a placement test. They mostly base it by age and by “experience”
Studying Abroad - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I thought, nowadays, Filipino students have surpassed Americans.
2 :
International students usually have the chance to take placement tests. Most times people need to talk to someone at the city's school headquarters to find out more about it. The particular school doesn't always have immediate information to give so sometimes they have to do some research on their own to find out what they need to do.
3 :
This varies from state to state, and even district to district. This is especially true for exchange students. For example, some districts enroll ALL foreign exchange students as juniors, no matter what their background. Some enroll them as "social seniors" with no graduation. Others will actually work with them to graduate. In some cases, it's a matter of language ability. Yes, a foreign student may have the background in a particular topic to be in a senior class ... but it does them little good if they cannot understand the English! Foreign exchange students suffer the same upon return to their countries -- for most, their year in the US does not count ... they must repeat it. So, bottom line. Live with it. If you want to go to school here, follow the rules established by that district.

If it's only a short study abroad where you go for a year or less to a foreign university and then return back to your university in the US then, yes, you are able to use financial aid to help pay for it. However, if it's a permanent study at a foreign university where you will receive your degree from that university then, no, you are not.
2 :
Grants are given out on the basis of "need'. which is a very politically correct way to say they only go to folks who are poor and have poor families. It is my experience that those who do expensive study abroad programs aren't very poor and thus would not qualify for grants... plus they would have to attend a US approved school. Not many of them outside the states.

The ability of studying abroad is not a measurement of being best.

Atheists, can you help? I'm inquiring which religious or non-religious groups would be most moved with the predicament of a starving student in Cebu. If course, it's also important for agnostics to know which intellectual traditions yield most practical compassion.

We should all help each other out -- regardless of religious belief (or lack thereof).
2 :
Starving kids always upset me, its a good job we have secular charities like the red cross that can properly make a difference through everyones donations.
3 :
They only help themselves. Like helping the Red Cross feeds starving children. It only feeds a multi billion dollar entity with top executives making 6 and 7 figure salaries.

Dude, this is NOT the place to solicit "charity".
5 :
Is this a scam?
6 :
Part of my moral code? As in, I HAVE to do this to stay moral? No. But would I do it, should the opportunity arrive? Of course. That would come with the stipulation that I would actually be giving them a food SOURCE as opposed to canned food or something, though, as that doesn't help very much. -shrug- And as I do not have the funds to go the Philippines myself, I'd have to find someone else to get it there, which is usually the most limiting factor to all people - not whether or not it's in your moral code.

thats called volenteer work, not religion. just because they dont believe in god doesnt mean they dont want to do good in the world.

Nope, I don't see why I should help the starving kids in other countries. Not my fault their too dumb to learn how to farm.

you consider the locals firstly .perhaps the philippine government .

If I had the means to do so, and a legitimate charity to help through, I would do so. Unfortunately I don't at the moment.

Your god of choice, or lack there of, has nothing to do with helping your fellow human beings... If you ONLY help others because you expect a cosmic reward then you are a pathetic human that doesn't deserve any form of recognition for what you do. Helping your species is it's own reward and should be the only reward required. If I were not on the verge of bankruptcy because of the economy, lay offs, etc. then I would love to help... But right now I'm trying to help myself keep a roof over my head...

i worked as a supervisor in call center in the philippines and pretty much, the call center easiest to get into is the one that pays less or has bad management. as an aspiring call center agent/employee, you should think "why" you fail the application. then work on it. i should say, stick to the big ones. they're always worth working for.
2 :
I'm sorry if you haven't gotten the job you seek, but I have call center experience and mostly we were looking for people who were excellent in customer service. Anyone can be trained to know the material (well almost anyway), but the customer service aspect has to be in you when you get there to apply for the job. Some people are naturals at it, some get better with practice, and others are just not cut out for it at all. By the way, I am not Filipino, nor do I live in the Phillipines, but I can still give you a company to look for: Sykes Enterprises, Inc., in Manila. The reason I know this, is because I worked for them in the U.S. and we actually brought a workforce here from Manila, trained them in call center operations, and then took them back home, where we built and launched a call center. It's still there today. Having said that, don't count someone out because they aren't from your country. People around the world are able to help with things even though you may not think they could. Don't discount anyone's opinion, whether they are from the Phillipines or not, they just may know something that you don't.

Is high school in America harder than in the Philippines?
I recently graduated as a high school student in the Philippines but now we will move to America, my mother suggested me to go back in High school again to obtain a scholarship for College when I'll graduate there. The problem is I don't know anything about the educational system in High school in America. Can you please help me? thanks a lot!

Education in the US SUCKS! I passed through High School sleeping through most of it.
2 :
It depends on what type of school and what type of teachers you get on whatever school. My high school years where pretty easy because my teachers would only teach you for half the class and the rest just goof off (not everyday). On my school there was like probably 10 white people and like 5 black people and the rest was mexicans (half american and half Mexican or just pure Mexican) where I live I don't see often black people not even on cars nor on the streets. It's just mexicans and mexicans gangsters (there not like outside throwing signs and stuff or walk in packs or whatever.) and white people, oh and my neighbors were Philippines but they move to another house couple of blocks from where we live. We know them (not there mom).
3 :
well as an american, the education system here is terrible but it all depends on what school you go to and how well they teach if your like 16 they will put you in your supposely correct grade and you can start from there i believe you will be able to recieve a scholarship! hope this helped a little, good luck and welcome to America!!
4 :
I'm not sure. I had a friend who was from America then moved here. She got mostly A+'s, and A's in America, but when she got here it was mostly like her grades were in the 85% to 87% range. I honestly think it high school in America is a bit easier, but then again it depends on what kind of school you studied in when you were in the Philippines, because there are high schools in America that teach topics that are not touched on in the Philippines. And usually, there are like honors classes and AP classes, that the Philippines doesn't have, and I'm pretty sure that honors and AP classes affect your chances in getting a college scholarship. Anyway, goodluck!

First, check with your university's External Linkages Office to see if there are offerings. Usually, universities from East Asia, especially China, Japan, Korea, and member nations of ASEAN do have Philippine exchange systems. Last time I checked, Japan (Waseda) and Taiwan Universities have currently on-going exchanges with the Philippines. There are lots of exchange students here in Manila (as well as international students) and many of the exchangees are Japanese and Koreans. Most of them actually opt to stay in the Philippines because of the excellent shopping and nightlife in Manila, and the relatively near tropical beaches. I had four exchange student classmates, 2 are Korean, 1 is Vietnamese, and 1 is White American. De La Salle University-Manila by far, is the largest accepting institution for exchange students.

It's not easy, because so many Koreans want to study in an English-speaking country or Europe, but they don't consider the Philippines to fall in either category (even though English is widely spoken there). Many Koreans equate whiteness with an ability to speak English like a native. English teachers of color in Korea have reported being discriminated against. If you have any kids, you could try looking for a Korean au pair. You can also register to host on http://www.homestayweb.com. Pax International might have some possibilities, too. You could also check with your local university housing office, if they have one, and list yourself with them for any Korean students who attend.

actually, qualifications may vary, but it's more on showing your attitude and dedication towards the job. in addition, if you nail the exams, interviews and everything else, sometimes, you have to be at least a college student in order to join the workforce. if you are currently not enrolled, then you could actually apply for a position in the BPO industry just as long as you are qualified for the post. by all means, apply. after all, you will never find out if you don't try, even if you're an undergrad. usually, they'll give phone interviews, one-on-one interviews, or panel interviews, depending on client needs. usually there's an exam for english grammar, US culture and the whole shebang..they could give you exams on technical knowledge. if you happen to be qualified, you could be in! but if you plan to be a working student, some call centers could be skeptic as working students are statistically one of the main reasons for attrition. just make sure that you are able to handle the pressure and stress in the environment. there are some contact centers that are considerate in terms of adjusting to your preferred schedule (if studying), but bear in mind that you are there to work (and is actually paid to report to work at any time), and some clients could be slave drivers, and may get your hands tied because of the demands entailed. but don't fret. i am not discouraging you, but that's how this works. good luck with your endeavor and hopefully, be able to finish college :D

The most important thing is to pass the board exams. Engineering may do, but please do bear in mind, go to a well- known (UP, AdMU, DLSU, UST, MAPUA) school for this one to have a better job in the future. I.T. is indemand too, but this may likely easy to sink or swim. It's up to you......

First, you'll have to take the TOEFL and FPGEE exams. Then, you'll have to intern at a pharmacy. Afterwards, you can take the NAPLEX and MPJE exams. Each state has their own specific requirements, but they all require that.

i am student from Philippines cant afford to get CC/other card in order to get verified in pay pal, and here is the bank i plan to apply www.bdo.com.ph check it out please. if i can use it in pay pal, if i cant do a way to withdraw how can i get my money in pay pal?

Nope, you can't withdraw or send paypal money unless you're a verified member. BDO debit card can get your Paypal verified once you call Paypal hotline and there will be a customer service who is smart enough to help you out. But then if you want faster verification process use Union Bank's Eon card, it will take weeks to get your Eon card but it has no maintaining balance and it can easily get you verified. I think getting Eon card is P500 (please research for that, I knew that fee 2 years ago).

What are ways on how a highschool student can earn money?

What are ways on how a highschool student can earn money?
I'm a 16 year old, senior student in the Philippines. Next year I'll be able to drive a car and I really want to get a New Beetle which is expensive. My mother will pay for most of it, but I have to contribute a little. I'd like to know how I can earn money? You know, sources of extra income. Please take into consideration the fact that the Philippines has very few job opportunities and I am a minor. All suggestions will be very much appreciated. :)

You may want too check out the following companies. I find them very good, any one can do them and make money, even if little. http://www.makemoney1on1.com http://www.100moneymaker.com

Im 16 and in the same situation, I actually just got my car today (not new but I still have to kick in about $1000 towards it) and I make money online using a GPT site called cashcrate. I am in the USA and the site pays in US currency but the payment will be converted to your native currency, and if US currency is worth more than your currency then you are very lucky because it will be worth more than what it would be in the US. Below is the link to my blog containing all of the info you need to get started making money aswell as proof of payment received by users.

student seeking Cheapest tickets to philippines this december 2009- mid january 2010?

student seeking Cheapest tickets to philippines this december 2009- mid january 2010?
Hi! fellow pinoys in the US or to the people that have booked flights below a thousand dollars that went to philippines. I am a student here in the US, and I am seeking for very cheap airfares going to philippines this december planning to get back mid january, I wanna see my family and loved ones there and spend time christmas season with them. I will really appreciate it if you can help me find cheapest ticket price to philippines :) thank you for the time!

1 :
You can check out http://www.philippineairlines.com/home. Although during that period (Dec 2009 to January 2010), plane fares are usually quite high.
2 :
That is the peak season, but if your departure is early December you might get a cheaper rate (maybe the cutoff date is December 8, but it could vary depending on the airline). After that date the rates are higher. Try cheaptickets, Expedia, etc., or call a local travel agent. Good luck and enjoy your visit.
3 :
your best bet will be going through ticket consolidators - ticket agents with access to consolidator tickets from airlines going to the philippines. buying air tickets to the philippines is NOT the same as buying domestic u.s. or even u.s. to europe tickets where you can find best deals online. in all the years i've been buying tickets for my family and myself, i have not found online deals (and yes, i check pretty much everything that's out there) that have beaten consolidators/ticket agent prices. neither have any of those travel agencies found at malls. find a good/honest one. i usually go with those recommended by people i know - including the current one who is my co-worker's sister. they will tell you the deals if any. the problem is that your scheduled travel time is peak season so it will be high regardless. it still helps to save even just a little though. by the way, start saving at least $1200 or so for airfare. you might be lucky to come across deals though. good luck.

How much does an average college student spend in the Philippines?

How much does an average college student spend in the Philippines?
My parents are sending me to the Philippines for college for the next 4 years. They're paying for tuition and boarding, and pretty much anything relating to school . So how much on average does a college student in the Philippines spend weekly? Let say that i go grocery shopping during the weekend and need to also send holiday gifts, plus shopping. How much would i need to have with me when i go to the philippines for the next 4 years? And to just clarify things, since a lot of people have been telling me that its a bad idea, its not a bad idea. I want to go there to learn more of my culture and have better tagalog, only thing that makes me sad is leaving all my friends. College in the Philippines is just as College in the U.S. plus in the Philippines it cost so much cheaper if you're coming from the U.S., if you're from the Philippines it's pretty expensive. But you're getting the same education but just with different expenses.
Higher Education (University +) - 2 Answers

1 :
It would cost you about 100,000 pesos a year. Thats including food, transport and misc items.
2 :
If you want to lead a lifestyle similar to a US middle class lifestyle, you will probably spend about two-thirds of what you would spend in the US, so long as you do not own an automobile. Most Philippine university dormitories offer a lower standard of living than do most US dorms. Do not be surprised if you have five or seven roommates in a small room with bunk beds. Expect Filipino food which may have different nutritional values than US food. Do not necessarily expect air conditioning. Remember that high school in the Philippines ends at the equivalent of the end of the tenth grade in the US and that many bachelor's degrees from the Philippines are considered by many US universities to be the equivalent of a US associate degree. This factor will be important if you want to go to graduate or professional school in the US. It may also affect employment prospects in the US. Do not take all your money with you. Find a bank in the Philippines which has an ATM which is on the same system as the ATM of a bank in your home town in the US so that your family can transfer money to you as you need it. Remember that the daily cash withdrawal limit of the Philippines ATM may be lower than that of US ATMs. Do not keep large amounts of cash with you or in your living place. Robbery and burglary are too common in all countries in the world.
3 :
hmmm.... $20dollars for groceries $5dollars for fun and whatnot $2-3 for transportation ----------------------------------------- $28 weekly $5 for gifts - as long as you bargain or buy local products(imported ones are waaaay expensive)

UK student VISA from Philippines?

UK student VISA from Philippines?
UK Student VISA from the Philippines? My sister, 22, wants to come to the UK to study and work, from the philippines. She is looking to live with us, (her family) in Norwich, and to study and work here in Norwich. could anyone be of any help? We dont know what to do really. She has found an agency which will help her to get through, but to study in london. which she doesnt want. plus they want a show of money of 10,000 pounds in her account. there must be some other way. hopefully we have enough time to get her into college this september 2009. PLEASE could anyone give us information on requirements, etc =) she doesnt want a student visa to work :| she wants to study AND work. you can do it for up to 20 hours. its not breaking the rules fyi

She wants a student visa to work. That is breaking the rules. It would be best if she just stayed in her own country.
2 :
I would contact a local college and see if they would issue a student visa. Give them all the details they need as well as sponsor(you) details She is allowed to work for 15 hours per week on her student visa. Do you have any pinoy associations in your area who would be able to help?
3 :
-you have to find a school in norwich that is licensed to sponsor an overseas student. -documents to prove that you are willing to help her with accommodation and expenses. ( bank statements and mortgage certificate ) - documents to prove that she got the money to spend while studying in her own name. -better if you can pay her tuition in full
4 :
She needs to apply for a course in a college or University in UK that is duly registered with HomeOffice for offering courses to foreign students. Once that college/University will accept ur sister as student, they will send her offer letter & that offer letter will be used to apply for visa. Since Homeoffice changed the rules lately, you sister must be able to score minimum points to qualify for student visa. That includes, 1) Offer from College/University (for full time course only). 2) IELTS with score of 6.5 Academic (English language test). 3) Bank Statements to prove one is able to support him/herself. 4) Educational certificates of previous education already completed. 5) Points for his/her age. Thats pretty much it. I have printed HomeOffice website for guidelines, as well as UKVISAS (Government) webstie for visa guidelines. Please go through them. Good luck.
5 :
First there is no guarantee regardless of how much money your sister has in her account that her student visa will be approved. The money I assume is meant to show she is able to support herself without relying on the government for support. Also I suspect the money is to show that she has enough money to pay for her tuition due to the fact she is ineligible for financial support from the government through loans and grants. Second from reading your posting it reads as though getting her a student visa is more of a way to get her in the country than for her to study. My understanding may have arisen from the poor grammar that was used in posting the question. If she is not a legitimate student then most likely her application will be rejected or once here she will be sent back due to the fact she is not a legitimate student. Her ability to work and remain in the country is directly related to her being a student that complies with the rules regarding having a student visa. Moving on to your next question. Is there enough time to get into college in September 2009. According to recent media reports there are 60,000 students waiting to go through clearing with only 10,000 spots available. Granted she is an international student in which colleges put aside 'x' number of spots for international students but I struggle to be too optimistic given the demand by UK citizens for university spots and if she has not applied yet, then in my honest opinion I believe it is too late for her. Ideally she should have made her application sometime between November and the end of March. Any application she makes must be from a school approved by the Home Office. Otherwise her application will be rejected. Finally using an agency will not help her application in being approved and any agency that guarantees approval in my opinion should not be used. In all honesty she can do it herself for allot less money and with similar results. In order to answer your questions it is my feeling if she has not applied for university / college yet then it is too late for her to start school in September in the UK.

the law prohibits it...someone who has only a student's driving permit must be accompanied by someone who has at least a non professional driver's permit.
2 :
no
3 :
No. Should be accompanied by a professional driver's license holder.
4 :
you can drive alone even with a driving permit... but be sure your student driving permit goes with a huge amount of money so incase a police caught you without a license just hand over the money and your free to go...
5 :
No, the first and foremost requirement should have a professional driver with him, must be a licensed also. implementation is not strict but sometimes traffiic police inspect the drivers surprisingly in a certain area, and that will cause violation of the traffic commisiion. Better to drive with professional to avoid penalties and accident. Or there are so many ways to have a professional one. I'm not convincing you because this is a corruption practice, try to find fixers within Land Transportaion offices, and they can give you professional license instantly.
6 :
No. A professional licensed driver must at all times accompany one who holds a student driving permit.
7 :
no girl...he or she must be acompany wd a person who has a non-profesional lisecence or profesional.
8 :
lots of ppl think they can drive by themselves with a student permit.. my friend just gut busted for it. and he was surprised and argued with the traffic police. if u have a student permit u can drive only if u are accompanied by a licensed driver.
9 :
Anyone with a student driver's license only has to drive with a licensed Professional driver.

Try Citiloan in the nearest citibank close to your address.

Go to the Spanish embassy and the Japanese embassy. They are the best when it comes to sponsoring scholarships for Filipinos abroad.

I think its better if you talk to your school's college or universiuty international relations department. They should have a program for foreign exchange students. If you want to, lets say, study in Europe, you need to find a suitable exchange student who will study here in Manila. Regarding the load, the school department can advice you with that and if need be, may give you a formal recommendation to the loaned bank. If you have time, check this website: http://www.studyabroad.com/

Have you tried using GPT (Get-Paid-To) sites online? You won't earn millions, but it should help you earn a little extra spending money. If you put a little time into it, you can easily earn an extra $50 per week. One of my favorite new sites is www.dollapal.com. It's pretty simple. You just put in your PayPal email address on the first page, click "Take a Survey" and follow the instructions. They pay directly to that PayPal account once you complete the offer. I've made well over $1,000 this year using these sites and anyone that tells you that they are not legitimate have not tried them for themselves. If you don't like www.dollapal.com, try visiting www.gptsitelist.com for an extensive list of GPT sites.

how can a student contribute to the present global financial crisis in the philippines?

There's no existing way that us students can contribute greatly to country's financial(Well I guess it's the Gov't. who's got the problem) yet we can do small things that can help.Ask your parents to pay their taxes and honestly state their income if asked by the Government by this way we can make sure that the country's treasury can have what it should have. Also the requesting for receipts from different stores and traders can make you sure they pay their taxes no matter the size of their business be. Well even if those things will seem useless to the large problem of our economy when done by everyone can at least make a difference. But I guess the one who's REALLY got the problem is the government officials who only know how to put the people's money to their bottomless pockets and thus making our country's government useless and incompetent. So if you are legible to vote then do so because one vote can make a difference on who will win the elections and might be the one we are looking for to pull our country in head deep of debts and thus solving our financial problem. :D P.S.:edit your question..."present global financial crisis in the Philippines"Omit the global....

Student visa for the Philippines?

Student visa for the Philippines?
Hi, I'm thirteen years old. After finishing my freshman year in California by June 2009, my parents are thinking of sending me to the Philippines to study in high school, then nursing in college. My question is, am I old enough to apply for a student visa to study in a high school in the Philippines? I'll be fourteen by June 2009. Also, since it'll be eleven months before June comes, is that enough time for the Student Visa to process? Thank you! (= Oh! I'm a currently a US citizen. Oh! I'm currently a US citizen.

http://www.gov.ph/faqs/visa.asp Also, try to research and call them using this website http://www.immigration.gov.ph/ I assume that you can do this at any age.. If your parents were once Filipino Citizens, you could be eligible to have dual citizenship of both American and Filipino.. It's just a preference but it might hurt if you work for the government for the future.. I doubt it though since you will be taking a nursing course.. Anyways, here's the info.. STUDENT VISA Step 1. Application with the Preferred School - Communicate directly with the school of choice and comply with their requirements which includes: * Five (5) copies of Duly Signed and accomplished Personal History Statements (PHS) with 2 X 2 photograph. * Notarized affidavit of support including bank statements to cover all expenses of the student. * Scholastic records duly authenticated by the Philippine embassy/consulate located in student's country of origin or legal residence. * Photocopy of data page of student's passport showing date and place of birth. * Birth certificate or its equivalent duly authenticated by the Philippine embassy/consulate located in student's country of origin. Step 2. Acceptance by School - School upon satisfaction of compliance of requirements issues Notice of Acceptance (NOA) to student and submits the duplicate copy to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), together with the certified true copy of CHED-CEA when necessary. For quota courses such as medicine and dentistry, a certificate of eligibility for admission (CEA) is also issued by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Step 3. Department of Foreign Affairs indorses documents to the foreign service post (FSP) located in the student's country of origin/place of legal residence for the issuance of the student visa. Step 4. The Philippine Embassy or Consulate notifies the student in writing to appear in person and bring all the required documents. Step 5. Upon receiving the letter from the Philippine Embassy/Consulate, the student makes an appointment to appear for an interview at the consulate or embassy. Please bring the following documents: * Valid Passport * Application Form for Student Visa (accomplished in triplicate) * Three photographs * Medical Health Certificate (DFA Form 11) in triplicate with life-size chest x-ray and laboratory reports. * Original Notice of Acceptance (NOA) and when appropriate, the CEA. * Police Clearance Certificate authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/Consulate located in student's country of origin or legal residence. * Visa Fee FOREIGNERS WHO ARE ALREADY IN THE PHILIPPINES UNDER ANY VALID VISA ARRANGEMENT MAY APPLY FOR THE CONVERSION OF THEIR VISA STATUS TO 9(F) STUDENT VISA PROVIDED THEY SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING: * Original Notice of Acceptance (NOA) and when appropriate, the CEA. * Proof of adequate financial support. * Scholastic records duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/Consulate located in student's country of origin or legal residence. * National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance (if student resided in the Philippines for more than 59 days) * Quarantine Medical Examination by the National Quarantine Office. * Copy of Duly signed and accomplished Personal History Statements (PHS) with 2 x 2 photograph. * Photocopy of data page of student's passport showing date and place of birth. If you are a high school graduate in Philippines, can you continue your studies in Canada as a college?
I was wondering. I know canada has higher level of education compare to philippines, it is possible for a high school graduate student in Philippines to continue college in Canada? Does she/he needs to take exams or do something in order to be accepted into college?

A high school graduate student in Philippines will have to graduate in high school again in Canada in order to proceed to college or university. Elementary in Canada is 1-8, HS is 9-12... So a high school graduate from Philippines might start at Grade 11 or it depends on the student's level or grades. She/he just needs to take the required courses [and hopefully get great grades because competition is tough in some college/university programs] in high school in order to get into College/University program she/he desires [Like Biology, chem and science courses if thinking of taking up field in medicine]. Some colleges/universities also requires a student to take a preparatory courses. In my honest opinion, in terms of high school education, Canada has a lower level than Philippines. A student can also be accepted in college by applying as an Adult and passing an entrance exam. I hope I answered your questions.

It is considered an I.D. but must be accompanied by other I.D's such as Company ID, BIR ID, etc. bearing birthday, residence address and signature. Police Clearance is not much of importance, but NBI Clearance is very much needed.

No, it's not a picture ID.

Maybe but since it is easy to acquire one that makes it not valid like cedula or Postal ID. Police clearance is usually accompanied by NBI Clearance.

Nope it can only be considered as a supporting ID to the valid ID's. If you are having a hard time getting a valid ID, I suggest that you get an NSO Birth Certificate and an NBI Clearance with an ID. Please bring the following if they are available. * Marriage Contract * Land Title * Driver's License * Government Service Record * School Form 137 or Transcript of Records with dry seal * Other documents that show full name and birth details of applicant and/or citizenship * Voter's Registration Record from COMELEC Intramuros * Baptismal Certificate with dry seal * Seaman's Book * Income Tax Return (Old) * NBI Clearance For further info visit: http://epassport.com.ph/info/requirements/for/new
